RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Marc Ellis and the South Fulton Business and Empowerment
Center's "Out Of the Box" youth financial literacy program; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Marc Ellis and the South Fulton Business and Empowerment Center of Union
City in partnership with local business leaders developed and manages the "Out
Of the Box" youth financial literacy program, which is a nonprofit six-month
program designed to teach at-risk youth between the ages of 14 and 17 how to be
good financial stewards; and
WHEREAS,
in 2005 over 20 high school students from Creekside, East Coweta, McIntosh,
Tri-Cities, Sandy Creek and Clarkston high schools graduated with enthusiasm
from the "Out Of the Box" program with an understanding of income potential and
the economic risk associated with financial investing and fundamental financial
skills; and
WHEREAS,
students in the "Out Of the Box" program are taught corporate success strategies
and how to manage a checkbook, personal finances, and investment portfolios;
while at the same time receiving character building skills; and
WHEREAS,
the "Out Of the Box" program is designed to develop an understanding of the
basics of managing finances while at the same time building self-esteem and
broadening the students' belief they can achieve success; and
WHEREAS,
the ultimate objective of the "Out Of the Box" program is to foster enthusiastic
investors and develop in our future leaders a passion for financial empowerment;
and
WHEREAS,
South Fulton Business and Empowerment Center and the "Out Of the Box" youth
financial literacy program is committed to developing young leaders by teaching
business and character principles that will last a lifetime.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that it recognizes and
commends Mr. Marc Ellis and the South Fulton Business and Empowerment Center of
Union City's "Out Of the Box" program and its outstanding work in helping the
youth to better their individual and collective quality of life by learning how
to be good financial stewards.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Marc
Ellis and the South Fulton Business and Empowerment Center of Union City.
