RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life of Harry H. Eason and dedicating the Harry H. Eason Memorial Bridge in
his memory; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Harry H. Eason was born on August 15, 1915, and lived all over the state of
Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
he was a superintendent for H. G. Smith Construction Company in Fitzgerald,
Georgia, and built bridges all over the state; and
WHEREAS,
in June, 1956, he moved to Tifton and built bridges for I-75 from Tifton to
Ashburn and from Tifton to Adel; and
WHEREAS,
although he was a superintendent, he worked as hard as any of his crew at the
actual manual labor of building bridges; and
WHEREAS,
many of the arch type bridges he built are still standing north of Tifton;
and
WHEREAS,
Harry H. Eason was a dedicated family man and public servant who devoted his
skills toward building bridges to make the lives of Georgia motorists
easier.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the
Chula-Brookfield Road bridge over I-75 in Tift County is dedicated as the Harry
H. Eason Memorial Bridge.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and
directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Harry H. Eason
Memorial Bridge.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to the family of
Harry H. Eason and to the Department of Transportation.
