RESOLUTION
Commending
the students of 21st Century Leaders, recognizing "21st Century Leaders Day" at
the Capitol, and inviting the Georgia House of Representatives to participate in
21st Century Leaders Day at the Capitol; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
21st Century Leaders, operated under the charter of The Georgia Business Forum,
Inc., is a nonprofit organization that collaborates with business and education
leaders to develop, inspire, and nurture high-potential students to make a
positive impact on their schools, communities, and future places of work;
and
WHEREAS,
the mission of 2lst Century Leaders is to increase the number, skills, and
diversity of
Georgiás
future leaders by delivering world-class business leadership training to diverse
Georgia high school students with high leadership aptitude; and
WHEREAS,
more than 2,500 students from more than 100 Georgia high schools have
participated in the program, and more than 100 Georgia companies have supported
the program through funding and volunteers; and
WHEREAS,
21st Century Leaders practice their leadership skills by providing a "Youth
Voice" to the business and professional community, by leading their schools in
community service projects, and by networking with top leaders from across the
state; and
WHEREAS,
over 90 percent of students who participate in 21st Century Leaders matriculate
to college; and
WHEREAS,
over 70 percent of 21st Century Leaders students continue to take on leadership
roles in their colleges and communities after high school.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize February 3, 2006, as "21st Century Leaders Day" at the
Capitol and encourage all members of the Georgia House of Representatives to
participate in the
daýs
activities.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to 21st Century
Leaders.
