A RESOLUTION

Commending Mr. Ed Hoard on being inducted into the PGA Golf Professional Hall of Fame; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Ed Hoard was inducted into the PGA Golf Professional Hall of Fame in a ceremony on September 8, 2005, at the PGA Historical Center at PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Florida; and

WHEREAS, designated as a Master Professional by the PGA in 2004, he currently serves as the director of instruction for the Athens Country Club, where he has worked for 25 years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hoard is widely respected and admired for his talent, dedication, and passion for the game of golf, and he has received numerous accolades for his many contributions to this sport, including induction into the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame and being named PGA Golf Professional of the Year in 1999; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hoard has been highly active in professional golf for many years, serving on the PGA of America's Rules of Golf Committee for over 20 years and having worked as a rules official at 21 PGA Championships, including the 2005 tournament at Baltusrol Golf Club in New Jersey; he has also served at five Davis Cup competitions, including the 2002 tournament at The Belfry in Sutton Coldfield, England; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hoard is highly esteemed by fellow golf professionals, and his many outstanding achievements are an inspiration to all who love this game.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in commending Mr. Ed Hoard on being inducted into the PGA Golf Professional Hall of Fame and congratulate him on receiving this prestigious honor.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Ed Hoard.
