A RESOLUTION

Inviting Mr. Peter G. Doukas, MP, to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Peter G. Doukas is a Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister of Finance of Greece; and

WHEREAS, through his work as a Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister of Finance, in addition to past positions such as his tenure as Country Manager, Corporate & Investment Banking, for Citibank Greece, Mr. Doukas is an expert in international finance and is an invaluable source of knowledge and experience on dealing with the European Economic Community; and

WHEREAS, in the course of his exemplary career, Mr. Doukas has held several prestigious positions, including service as Co-Chairman of Pepsico-Ivi Group Hellas; as Chairman of the Boards of NetMed NV, Ericsson Hellas SA, and Capitol Partners SA; as Senior Advisor to EFG Eurobank Ergasias Bank SA; and as a Member of the Board of Trustees of Anatolia College; an avid golfer, Mr. Doukas also serves as President of the Hellenic Golf Federation; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Doukas is a graduate of George Washington University, received his M.B.A. from Columbia University, and earned his Ph.D. from New York University; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Doukas, a former board member of the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, has spent much of his life in the United States and is deeply committed to strengthening the ties between our nation and Greece; and

WHEREAS, it is in the strong interest of the Georgia economy that we explore our state's relationships with foreign nations, and meeting with Mr. Doukas would be an excellent opportunity to support Georgia's friendship with Greece.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body invite Mr. Peter G. Doukas, MP, to appear before the House of Representatives for the purpose of fostering closer economic ties between the nation of Greece and the State of Georgia.
