A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT

To amend Code Section 15-1-9.3 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to senior judge of state court, probate court, or juvenile court, request for assistance of a senior judge, and compensation, so as to provide that a state court or juvenile court judge shall be eligible for appointment as a senior judge with a combination of service as a judge and as a solicitor-general of a state court; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Code Section 15-1-9.3 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to senior judge of state court, probate court, or juvenile court, request for assistance of a senior judge, and compensation, is amended by striking in its entirety paragraph (2) of subsection (a) and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
"(2) Any state court or juvenile court judge, whether or not said judge is a member of the retirement fund created by Chapter 23 of Title 47, who ceases holding office as a judge and who has:
(A) At at least ten years in any combination of service as judge of a state court or juvenile court; or
(B) At least ten years in any combination of at least eight yearś service as a judge of a state court or juvenile court and up to two yearś service as a solicitor-general of a state court
at the time of ceasing to hold office and who is not eligible for appointment to the office of senior judge under any other law of this state may be appointed as a senior judge as provided in this Code section."

SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
