A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT

To amend an Act establishing the compensation of certain officials in Richmond County, approved April 12, 1982 (Ga. L. 1982, p. 3941), as amended, particularly by an Act approved February 4, 2002 (Ga. L. 2002, p. 3505), so as to provide for the compensation of certain officials in Richmond County; to provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
An Act establishing the compensation of certain officials in Richmond County, approved April 12, 1982 (Ga. L. 1982, p. 3941), as amended, particularly by an Act approved February 4, 2002 (Ga. L. 2002, p. 3505), is amended by striking and reserving paragraphs (1), (5), (9), (10), (11), and (12) of subsection (a) of Section 1 and by inserting a new subsection at the end of Section 1 to read as follows:
"(c)(1) Beginning May 1, 2006 through April 30, 2007, the following officials of Richmond County, Georgia, shall receive an annual salary, payable from the funds of Richmond County, Georgia, as follows:
(A) Clerk of superior court and state court
$90,000.00
(B) Solicitor of the state court
90,000.00
(C) District attorney
35,000.00
(D) Judge of the superior court
34,000.00
(E) Chief judge of the superior court
36,000.00
(F) Sheriff
105,000.00
(2) Beginning May 1, 2007, and thereafter, the following officials of Richmond County, Georgia, shall receive an annual salary, payable from the funds of Richmond County, Georgia, as follows:

(A) Clerk of superior court and state court
$97,000.00
(B) Solicitor of the state court
97,000.00
(C) District attorney
38,000.00
(D) Judge of the superior court
40,000.00
(E) Chief judge of the superior court
42,000.00
(F) Sheriff
110,000.00
(3) The compensation provided for in paragraphs (1) and (2) of this subsection shall be paid in equal monthly installments."

SECTION 2.
This Act shall become effective on May 1, 2006.

SECTION 3.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
