BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Article 4 of Chapter 9 of Title 16 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated, relating to fraud and related offenses, so as to provide for the
crime of impersonating a veteran or active duty member of the armed forces of
the United States; to provide for criminal penalties; to repeal conflicting
laws; and for other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Article
4 of Chapter 9 of Title 16 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to fraud and related offenses, is amended by adding a new Code section at the
end thereof, to be designated Code Section 16-9-62, to read as
follows:
"16-9-62.
(a)
It shall be unlawful for any person to impersonate a veteran or active duty
member of the armed forces of the United States with intent to defraud for the
purpose of personal gain or to facilitate any unlawful activity.
(b)
Any person who violates subsection (a) of this Code section shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
