BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Article 2 of Chapter 5 of Title 42 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated, relating to wardens, superintendents, and other personnel of state
and county correctional institutions, so as to provide for the responsibilities
of wardens of state correctional institutions with regard to commissaries for
inmates; to provide for an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for
other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Article
2 of Chapter 5 of Title 42 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to wardens, superintendents, and other personnel of state and county
correctional institutions, is amended by inserting a new Code section to be
designated Code Section 42-5-41 to read as follows:
"42-5-41.
The
warden of each state correctional institution shall have responsibility for the
institutiońs
commissary for inmates, including the responsibility of selecting vendors of
supplies for the commissary in accordance with applicable law and
regulations."
SECTION
2.
This
Act shall become effective upon its approval by the Governor or upon its
becoming law without such approval.
SECTION
3.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
