BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend an Act creating the Marion County Board of Elections and Registration,
approved June 3, 2003 (Ga. L. 2003, p. 4474), so as to change the provisions
relating to meetings of the board; to change the provisions relating to
compensation of the members of the board; to repeal conflicting laws; and for
other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
An
Act creating the Marion County Board of Elections and Registration, approved
June 3, 2003 (Ga. L. 2003, p. 4474), is amended by striking subsection (a) of
Section 15 of said Act and inserting in its place the following:
"(a)
The board shall fix and establish by appropriate resolution entered on its
minutes directives governing the execution of matters within its jurisdiction.
The board shall hold meetings at the county courthouse or at the place of
meeting of the commissioners. The board shall meet each month on a day selected
by the chairperson to transact the business of the board. Any specially called
meetings held pursuant to the bylaws adopted by the board shall be held only
after the notification of the time and place of the holding of such meeting has
been communicated in writing to the chief election official to provide public
notice of the meeting as required by law. All meetings of whatever kind of the
board shall be conducted pursuant to Chapter 14 of Title 50 of the O.C.G.A.,
relating to open
meetings."
SECTION
2.
Said
Act is further amended by striking subsection (b) of Section 16 of said Act and
inserting in its place the following:
"(b)
The members of the board shall receive not less than $48.00 per day for each day
of service on the business of the board and shall be reimbursed for their actual
and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their
duties."
SECTION
3.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
