BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend an Act creating a system of public schools for the City of Marietta in the
County of Cobb, approved December 29, 1890 (Ga. L. 1890-91, Vol. II, p. 1014),
as amended, so as to provide for compensation of the board; to provide an
effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
An
Act creating a system of public schools for the City of Marietta in the County
of Cobb, approved December 29, 1890 (Ga. L. 1890-91, Vol. II, p. 1014), as
amended, is amended by striking subsection (c) of Section 3 and inserting in
lieu thereof the following:
∀(c)(1)
The members of the board shall be paid $537.00 per month as compensation out of
the budget of the board of education revenues, and the chairperson shall be
compensated an additional $100.00 per month out of the budget of the board of
education revenues.
(2)
The $537.00 per month compensation for members of the board specified in
paragraph (1) of this subsection includes a one-time raise in salary consisting
of a 4 percent cost-of-living increase as applied to the former $300.00 per
month salary for members of the board plus an additional $225.00 per month as an
equity adjustment in recognition of the compensation paid to members of other
local boards of education and in order to better attract and keep highly
qualified persons in service as board
members.∀
SECTION
2.
This
Act shall become effective on July 1, 2006.
SECTION
3.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
