BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend an Act creating the Board of Education of Coffee County, approved March
10, 1970 (Ga. L. 1970, p. 2441), as amended, so as to provide for
the selection of a chairperson and vice chairperson; to provide that such
chairperson and vice chairperson shall serve terms of one year; to provide for
related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other
purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
An
Act creating the Board of Education of Coffee County, approved March 10, 1970
(Ga. L. 1970, p. 2441), as amended, is amended by striking
subsection (b) of Section 3 and inserting in lieu thereof a new subsection (b)
to read as follows:
"(b)
At the
board́s
first regularly scheduled meeting in January, the members of the board shall
elect, by majority vote, one of their number to serve as chairperson for one
year and until the subsequent election of a chairperson in the same manner as
provided above and one of their number to serve as vice chairperson for one year
and until the subsequent election of a vice chairperson in the same manner as
provided above. A member shall be eligible to succeed himself or herself as a
member of the board and also as chairperson and vice chairperson of the
board."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
