BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend an Act reconstituting the board of education of the City of Dublin,
approved April 5, 1993 (Ga. L. 1993, p. 4970), as amended, so as to provide
certain additional authority to the board with respect to real estate
transactions; to provide for related matters; to provide an effective date; to
repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
An
Act reconstituting the board of education of the City of Dublin, approved April
5, 1993 (Ga. L. 1993, p. 4970), as amended, is amended by adding at the end of
Section 2 a new subsection (d) to read as follows:
∀(d)
In addition to any other powers of the board with respect to the acquisition and
disposition of property, the board shall have the specific power to acquire and
dispose of real property through the exchange of a portion of any school site
for adjacent real property (either with or without the payment or receipt of
other or additional consideration) where the board has determined that such
exchange is in the best interest of the school and the school system; and any
such exchange shall be executed by the chairperson in the name of the school
district, upon authorization by the
board.∀
SECTION
2.
This
Act shall become effective upon its approval by the Governor or upon its
becoming law without such approval.
SECTION
3.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
