Senate passes eminent domain moratorium

 

ATLANTA- The Senate votes 52 to 0 to pass SB 391, which places a moratorium upon the exercise of power of eminent domain. Sen. John Wiles responds. (02/03/06)

Wiles' legislation to protect ATM users

 

ATLANTA- Senator John Wiles (R-Kennesaw) today announced that he has introduced legislation that will require a 911 calling button at automated teller machines (ATMs). Senate Bill 519, sponsored also by Senators Jeff Chapman (R-Brunswick), Judson Hill (R-Marietta) and Chip Rogers (R-Woodstock), is aimed to protect ATM users who might be forced to make a withdrawal by an abductor or criminal. Shafer, Wiles introduce legislation banning sale of cell phone calling history

 

ATLANTA- Senators David Shafer (R-Duluth) and John Wiles (R-Kennesaw) today announced that they have introduced legislation aimed at prohibiting the sale of cell phone records without the consent of the consumer. Senate Bills 455 and 456 were filed with the Secretary of the Senate's office this morning. (01/25/06)

SR - HOPE Chest Amendment

 

ATLANTA- In its first meeting of the 2006 session, the Senate Higher Education Committee convened to consider Senate Resolution 655, known as the HOPE Chest Amendment. The proposed constitutional amendment would reserve all lottery funds for certain educational purposes. The resolution specifically states that after all HOPE scholarship and Pre-K program commitments are honored, the remaining lottery revenue would go to education shortfall reserves. (01/25/06)
