Tuesday, March 29, 2005 Legislative Day # 38 The budget is the most important piece of legislation enacted during a legislative session and yesterday House and Senate leaders reached an agreement on the Fiscal Year 2006 Appropriations Bill. The seventeen point six billion dollar budget provides health care for Georgia’s neediest citizens, fully funds education for the state’s children while providing teachers with a much deserved pay raise and promotes economic development for jobs creation. As the legislative session draws to an end, some other important business was taken up which anticipates future issues for consideration. This was the creation of various study committees which will have a closer look at a range of specific issues such as All-Terrain Vehicle safety to new born health. More than a dozen resolutions creating such study panels were on the calendar. Also on the agenda were a number of Senate Bills up for scrutiny and reports by conferees concerning how differences between how Senate and House versions of important legislation were be worked out. I’m ___________ reporting from the Capitol. If you would like to schedule at time to record this message through the House Communications Radio Studio, please contact Bill Bahr at 404-656-0444. |
