DAILY RADIO SCRIPT
Tuesday, March 8, 2006 Legislative Day # 28

The House yesterday passed the two single most important bills required of the General Assembly every year.

After a thorough and detailed review the House approved the conference committee report on the amended spending plan for the current fiscal year.

The seventeen point eight billion dollar plus package represents a compromise between the House and Senate versions of the amended fiscal year 2006 spending plan and now goes to the Governor’s desk.

Working through lunch and well into the afternoon, the House then adopted and sent to the Senate its version of the appropriation for the upcoming fiscal year.

The price tag on that plan is $18.6 billion dollars in state money.

The Senate will now review the proposal and can make its own recommendations.

Also approved were bills concerning insurance insolvencies, asbestos claims and magistrate’s salaries.
