DAILY RADIO SCRIPT
Wednesday, February 15, 2006 Legislative Day # 19

Atlanta is in the running with Charlotte, North Carolina as home to the NASCAR Hall of Fame and Museum, a facility which would be a boom not just to the Capitol City’s tourism industry but for the whole state as well.

As an inducement for NASCAR to settle here, the House wants to offer a sales tax exemption for the construction materials needed to build what will be a sizeable tourist draw.

Another pro-business measure which passed yesterday extends a withholding tax credit to offset the expense businesses pay to retrain employees.

House Bill 1157 passed the House unanimously and aims specifically to help Delta … which has struggled financially since September 11th.

The proposal amends the Georgia Best act to allow Delta to access stored credits earned due to its job retraining efforts.

The plan amounts to a virtual 28 million dollar credit which Delta could fully take advantage of over the next 12 months.

Also passed was a measure requiring parental permission slips for their children to attend school clubs and the Appalachian Brook Trout was named the state cold water game fish.
