The House took up a teacher’s retirement bill that will increase, by a small amount, the pensions of a number of retired teachers who are now in their 80’s and 90’s. This group retired many years ago and very much needs a little boost. The House also favorably considered House Bill 1054, which is the routine annual update of the list of controlled substances. Additionally, the House voted to change the way that trucks hauling aggregate building materials are weighed on highways. The measure does not increase the amount of weight trucks carrying rocks and gravel can pull, but because these loads can shift, changes were made in the weighing method to gross weight rather than axle weight. I’m Representative _______________ reporting from the capitol.
