Thursday January 26, 2006 Legislative Day # 9

Pets and livestock stock got the attention of lawmakers today with passage of House Bill 999. The 11 page document makes detailed changes in provisions governing veterinary care and now goes to the senate.

Georgia Lawmakers also honored U.S Senator Paul Coverdell today by unveiling the Paul Coverdell Legislative Office Building.

Coverdell was remembered as a quite, humble, and effective statesman. State Leaders such as Governor Perdue and Speaker Richardson praised Coverdell’s hard work, and dedication to getting the job done.

A scholarship fund was established to commemorate the Statesman turned U.S. Senator in the amount of one half million dollars for policy studies and political science students.

Ceremonies were held before a large gathering in front of the newly christened Coverdell Legislative Office Building.
