Ronald Reagan was on the minds of House members yesterday as the former president was honored with House Bill 713. The bill, which passed by a large margin, sets aside February 6th as Ronald Reagan Day. While not a formal holiday, the measure designates the date for annual observance to commemorate the nation’s 40th chief executive. Also yesterday, Supreme Court Justice Leah Sears told a Special Joint House and Senate Session that Georgians must work together to improve the services that most impact state citizens; Driver Licenses, alcohol and drug abuse, and Court Proceedings. The Justice called upon the legislature to continue its budgetary commitment to facilitate the passage of new Judgeships. Justice Sears reminded lawmakers that Georgians are all interdependent and must work along side the Judiciary to improve these resources. And finally the House Committee which oversees criminal law worked into the evening considering what will be the nation’s toughest law aimed at protecting Georgia’s children from sexual predators. I’m Representative ______________ reporting from the capitol. . |
