Wednesday, September 7, 2005 Special Session Day # 2 TODAY ON THE FLOOR Speaker of the House Glenn Richardson (R-Hiram) and gaveled the House into session today, at 9:00 a.m., for the second legislative day of the 2005 Special Session called by Governor Sonny Perdue. The Speaker then recognized Rep. Jay Neal (R-LaFayette) to be the Devotional Speaker of the Day, and led the House in devotion, prayer, and the pledge of allegiance. Speaker Richardson recognized Majority Leader Jerry Keen (R-St. Simon’s Island) made a motion that the House be at ease until and adjourn at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday morning to begin the committee process. NO ACTION WAS TAKEN ON THE HOUSE FLOOR * The House will reconvene on Thursday, September 8th at 9:00 a.m. for its 3rd Legislative Day of the Special Session. RULES COMMITTEE The Committee on Rules today has fixed the calendar for the 3rd Legislative Day, Thursday, September 8, as enumerated below, and can be called at the pleasure of the Speaker of the House. DEBATE CALENDAR Structured Rule HB 1EX - State taxes; certain motor fuels; temporary exemption; provisions - A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Title 48 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to revenue and taxation, so as to provide for an exemption for a limited period of time with respect to state taxes applicable to certain motor fuels; to provide for procedures, conditions, and limitations; to provide for powers, duties, and authority of the state revenue commissioner with respect to the foregoing; to ratify an executive order of the Governor suspending the collection of such taxes; to provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes. - Authored by: Rep.
