TODAY ON THE FLOOR

Speaker of the House Glenn Richardson (R-Hiram) and gaveled the House into session today, at 9:00 a.m., for the second legislative day of the 2005 Special Session called by Governor Sonny Perdue. The Speaker then recognized Rep. ----- to be the Devotional Speaker of the Day, and led the House in devotion, prayer, and the pledge of allegiance.

During ‘Morning Orders’, Representatives --- addressed members of the House from the well.

Majority Leader Jerry Keen (R-St. Simon’s Island) made a motion that the House be at ease until and adjourn at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday morning to begin the committee process.

HB 1EX - State taxes; certain motor fuels; temporary exemption; provisions - A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Title 48 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to revenue and taxation, so as to provide for an exemption for a limited period of time with respect to state taxes applicable to certain motor fuels; to provide for procedures, conditions, and limitations; to provide for powers, duties, and authority of the state revenue commissioner with respect to the foregoing; to ratify an executive order of the Governor suspending the collection of such taxes; to provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
