Speaker Richardson appoints a House HOPE Scholarship Program Study Committee

Atlanta– Today House Speaker Glenn Richardson (R-Hiram) appointed State Representatives Bill Hembree (R-Douglasville), James Mills (R-Gainesville), Mike Coan (R-Lawrenceville), Bob Smith (R-Watkinsville), and Ed Rynders (R-Albany) to the House HOPE Scholarship Program Study Committee. Rep. Bill Hembree will be serving as the Chair of the Study Committee. Rep. Bill Hembree is the Chairman of the House Higher Education Committee.

The committee will study the conditions, needs, issues, and problems regarding but not limited to the impact that results when students transfer between institutions in which credit hours may or may not be honored, and which may cause students to be required to take more credit hours than is allowed under the maximum hour limitations under the program. The committee was created by the passage of House Resolution 442. The study committee will end its meeting on December 31, 2005.
