HD 49 (R-Atlanta)

State Representative Wendell Willard (R-Sandy Springs) represents the 40 th District in the Georgia House of Representatives. As an experienced legislator, Representative Willard has distinguished himself with his knowledge and ability of how to strengthen civil justice. Representative Willard was appointed as the Chairman of the House Civil Judiciary Committee.

Representative Willard most notably action during his time with the General Assembly was helping the Governor and both the House and Senate pass bipartisan legislation that made Georgia’s children safer. The Child Protection Law protected children against reckless and abusive caregivers. It at last made serious acts of child endangerment a felony offence in Georgia. This law also protects children from being exposed to dangerous illegal drug labs in the home. Those labs can injure or kill children through deadly fumes, fires and explosions --- as the GBI and local sheriffs know very well. This legislation made it a crime in Georgia to manufacturing destructive drugs in the presence of a child.

Most recently, Chairman Willard has announced he is working with the Georgia Conservancy and Georgia Conservation Voters to start a bi-partisan, conservation caucus this session. The coalition represents more than 100 environmental organizations.
