HD 38 (R- Marietta) State Representative Steve Tumlin (R-Marietta) represents the 38 th District in the Georgia House of Representatives. A freshman legislator, Representative Tumlin was born in Marietta, and has been married to Jean Alice, who is a former Cobb County high school teacher, for 27 years. They have three children, Ty, Jamie and Sig. Representative Tumlin is a tax attorney and partner in the firm of Smith, Eubanks, Smith & Tumlin. Rep. Tumlin is also the President and Owner of Marietta Lumber Company. Steve was the founding Director of Georgia Security Bank, and sits on the Advisory Board of Westside Bank & Trust and The Chattahoochee Bank. Steve attended Marietta High School, and then went on to receive a B.B.A. from the University of Georgia. He successfully completed his Masters Degree at the University of Denver, and obtained his law degree from Georgia State University. Throughout his professional career, Representative Tumlin has always been a civic and community leader. He was the First President of Kennestone Hospice, and the Founding Director and Treasurer of Cobb- Marietta Girls Club. Steve is also the Treasurer for his church, the United Methodist Church located in Marietta, GA. He is the past President of the Marietta Kiwanis Club and past Distinguished Lieutenant Governor of the 15 th Division. Rep. Tumlin is also an officer of the Marietta Touchdown Club and Walker School booster. Even though this is his first General Assembly, Rep. Tumlin has acquired a significant amount of governmental service and experience as the Treasurer of the Marietta Redevelopment Corporation, and as the Past Vice Chairman of the Marietta Board of Lights and Water. Rep. Tumlin is also a past Chairman of the Marietta Board of Education. Rep. Tumlin will be serving, in his first General Assembly, as the Vice-Chairman of the Regulated Industries Committee, and a member on the Banks & Banking and Civil Judiciary Committees.
