Chairman Banks and Banking HD 25 (R-Gainesville) First elected to the Georgia State Legislature in 1992, Representative Mills was recently appointed as Chairman of the Banks and Banking Committee, for which he already has 11 years of service under his belt. The Chairman is also serving on the Appropriations and Ways and Means Committees. Mills graduated from Johnson County High School in Oakwood, Georgia and later attended Mercer University majoring in religion and minoring in psychology. Now an ordained minister, he served at Blackshear Place Baptist Church for 15 years, catering to the needs of a congregation numbering 4,000. The devout Baptist also serves as a Church Administrator and as a Minister for Youth, Singles and Senior Citizens. As a foreign missions leader, he has led numerous overseas short-term mission trips to places such as Ukraine, Moscow and Tasmania. He is also involved in Community Youth activities, including little league baseball and football. The legislator owns and operates 2 mini-storage warehouses as well. In 2001, he was named Christian Coalition Legislator of the Year. Married to homemaker, Rita, since 1984, the couple has four children: Michah age 12, Moriah age 11, Malachi age 6 and Mary Quinn age 1.
