SPEAKER APPOINTS REPRESENTATIVE BOB SMITH
TO THE HOUSE HIGHER EDUCATION FINANCE AND FORMULA
STUDY COMMITTEE
ATLANTA—Speaker of the House Glenn Richardson (R-Hiram) has tapped State Representative Bob Smith to serve as chair of the House Higher Education Finance and Funding Study Committee.
“I am pleased that Representative Smith has accepted this responsibility,” Richardson said. “I am confident that he will do a great job for our state.”
Created by House Resolution 1082, the study committee is charged with reviewing the outdated funding formula of the University System of Georgia and the Department of Technical and Adult Education. The current funding formula for the University System of Georgia was adopted in 1982 and has not been reviewed since that time. In 2001, the Department of Technical and Adult Education was modeled on the formula used by the university system.
