Hawk HD 27 (R- Gainesville) Representative Stacey Reece’s roots run deep in rural North Georgia. Born in Dawson County, Stacey has lived in Hall County for almost 2 decades. He attended Gainesville College obtaining his associates degree in Business Administration, later receiving his BBA from North Georgia College and State University. Reece’s professional career began in the banking business; where he worked helping families obtain loans to buy homes, autos and personal items. In 1997, Stacey decided to step out and start his own business. As co-owner of Spherion Staffing Services, Stacey has successfully made a payroll and balanced a budget every week. His company is rooted in Hall County, being based in Gainesville and providing jobs to hundreds of Hall residents. The legislator’s successful business experience has been mirrored by his experience working the community. That experience has been based in three different areas: volunteer work, political work and work within his church. On the volunteer front, Representative Reece has worked with several local education groups, business groups and homeowner groups. He has committed a great deal of time to both Lanier Technical College and to his alma mater, Gainesville College. Stacey worked in a number of roles, including trustee of Lanier Technical College and chairman of the Gainesville College Foundation. Representative Reece has served in various roles within the Chamber of Commerce, including the Federal and State Government Committee and the Infrastructure Committee. Stacey has also been active in his neighborhood, and has served in his previous neighborhood as president of Lake Ranch Estates homeowner’s association for 2 years. His political work has been extensive. Working his way up from the grassroots, Stacey became chairman of Hall County Republican Party and presided over its ascension to majority status in Hall during the 1990’s. As a grassroots Republican leader, Stacey has worked with the campaigns of numerous successful Republican candidates, late U.S. Senator Paul Coverdell amongst them. House Speaker Richardson recently appointed Reece to the Hawk position, and is also the Senior Deputy Whip. He is currently serving the constituents of his district through membership on the following House committees. Reece is the Secretary of the Appropriations economic development subcommittee, the Chairman of the Entrepreneurship and Business Retention Subcommittee of Economic Development, and a member of both the Health & Human Services and Industrial Relations Committees. |
