First elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1982, DuBose Porter has plenty of legislative service experience under his belt.  From 1991-1992, he served as the Administration Floor Leader to Governor Zell Miller.  He has also previously chaired the House Education Committee and Higher Education Committee.  During the past Legislative Session, he was the Speaker Pro Tem.  Presently, he is the House Democratic Caucus Minority Leader, and a member of the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Appropriations, and Rules Committees.

The Attorney and Newspaper editor was born and raised in Dublin, Georgia and is a graduate of Dublin High School.  He earned a B.A. in English from Davidson College.  In 1979, he was the recipient of a Juris Doctorate from the Cumberland Law School at Samford University.

DuBose and his wife Carol are the proud parents of four children.  The family attends the First United Methodist Church in Dublin.  His community involvement includes service with the Georgia Press Association, Nature Conservancy, Trust for Historic Preservation, Library Trustees Association and Jekyll Island Foundation Board.
