First elected to the Georgia State House of Representatives in 1994, Representative Don Parsons is still faithfully serving the constituents of District 42. He was recently appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Appropriations General Subcommittee. His service in the legislature also includes membership on the Children and Youth, Health and Human Services and Public Utilities and Telecommunications Committees.

Prior to his legislative duties, Representative Parsons served in the United States Army Reserves for 16 years, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. A graduate of West Virginia State College, the representative holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Secondary Education and worked as an operations manager for Bellsouth. He has had extensive community involvement through his service with the Marietta Kiwanis Club, which he’s been a member of since 1995. He also served on the Cobb County Juvenile Court Citizen Review Panel for 2 years.

Representative Parsons and his wife, Jo, have been blessed with 2 daughters, Jennifer and Meredith. They also are the proud grandparents of 2 grandsons and a granddaughter. Parsons is an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Marietta. His driving force in entering the political arena is his desire to serve the people in his county and state as their representative in the legislative process.
