State Representative, District 158

A successful businessman with a strong vision of service and leadership, Representative Bob Lane has recently embarked on a new era in his political career.

A lifelong resident of Statesboro, Bulloch County, Georgia, Representative Lane is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He was first elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1980 following the death of his father, W. Jones Lane, who had served in the House for twenty years. As State Representative of Bulloch and Screven counties, his original district number was 146. In November 2004, he was re-elected in the newly reapportioned House District 158.

During his tenure in the Georgia General Assembly, Representative Lane quickly rose to the ranks of House leadership serving as a former Chairman of the House Industrial Relations Committee. A long-time chair of the Game, Fish, and Parks Committee, Representative Lane was reinstated to his position as Chair of the committee in January 2005, making him a prominent member of leadership in the new Republican House administration. This is the first time Republicans have led the Georgia House of Representatives since the Reconstruction Era in 1870 - 135 years ago. Representative Lane is a member of the House Appropriations and House Rules Committees. He also serves as Vice Chairman of the Intragovernmental Coordination Committee.

As the owner of U-Save Auto Rental in Statesboro, Representative Lane is active in the local business community, serving on the Advisory Board of Eagle Bank and Trust and as a member of the Statesboro Rotary Club.

An active member of the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church, Representative Lane is married to the former Jan Tillman. They have two children, Brant and David.
