Vice Chairman Defense and Veterans Affairs HD 72 (R- Peachtree City) Representative Dan Lakly is currently representing House District 72, encompassing Fayette County. Technically a “returning freshman,” Lakly served in the House of Representatives from 1992-1998, and was recently reelected. He was recently appointed as Vice Chairman of the Defense and Veterans Affairs Committee. He also holds membership positions on the Banks and Banking, Human Relations and Aging, of which he is secretary, and the State Planning and Community Affairs Committees. Aside from his legislative experience, he has also held other public office positions. He has been an active member of the Peachtree City Council as well as a County Commissioner for Fayette County. His public service also extends to the military. Representative Lakly served in the U.S. Navy from 1959-1960, and is now an active member of the VFW and American Legion. The Pittsburg native attended Robert Morris College prior to working as a business executive. He is currently employed by MIS and works as an account executive. He and his wife Donna have been blessed with 3 sons, and are the proud grandparents of Connor, Jack and Benjamin. The Vice Chair is a devout Roman Catholic and enjoys gardening in his spare time. |
