HD 62 (D-East Point)

Born October 2, 1946 in New York, Representative Joe Heckstall and his wife Andrea now reside in East Point, Georgia. They are the proud parents of five children, Shaun, Donnay, Andre, Travis, Renee and also have one grandchild, Amber. Heckstall is a member of the Church of Wholis Healing in their local community.

The Representative attended SE Ward Park High school in New York City before later graduating from St. Augustine's College in Raleigh, North Carolina. He earned his B.A. in 1969 and now works as a Corporate Motivational Speaker and Trainer.

His life in the political and public arena began with his service as a City Councilman in East Point from 1981-1994. His election to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1995 furthered this career. The legislator is also quite active in other areas of his community including: Police Appreciation, 5 Star Speakers, Black Clergy Appreciation and serving on the Trustee Board of the Metro Atlanta Red Cross.

His special interests involve motivating groups on topics and training programs that enhance and encourage better performance and attitude development.
