Currently serving his second term in the Georgia House of Representatives, Tom Graves is certainly keeping himself busy. Having made a name for himself as a Freshman Representative and serving as Deputy Whip, and he now serves as Senior Deputy Whip.  In addition, he was also appointed as one of House Speaker Richardson’s Hawks giving him voting and membership privileges on all committees and sub-committees. As Senior Deputy Whip, Graves attends most committee meetings, including the Rules Committee, reads the bills on the calendar, prepares amendments and communicates his findings with his fellow legislators. Representative Graves is continuing his membership services to the Transportation, Ways & Means and Health & Human Services Committees for which he served last session. He has also picked up a new committee this term, and is an active member of the Information and Audits House Committee.
Born in St. Petersburg, Florida, Representative Graves spent his early years in Cartersville, Georgia where he graduated from Cass High School. He later went on to attend and graduate from the University of Georgia, where he earned a B.B.A., specializing in Finance. When he is not busy with his legislative duties under the Gold Dome, he enjoys providing homes for families in the multifamily housing industry. He is a past member of the Gordon County Board of Elections and an active member of the Chamber of Commerce. Graves is an active member of the American Legislative Exchange Council Transportation Task Force as well. He is also a Coverdell Leadership Institute Graduate.
