Chairman Interstate Cooperation

HD 3 (R- Ringgold)  

First elected in November 2000, Representative Ronald Forster is serving his third term in the Georgia State Legislature for District 3. Born in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia in 1964, the legislator graduated from Lakeview/Ft. Oglethorpe High School and continued his education earning an A.A. in Business Administration from City Colleges of Chicago, a B.S. in Education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and in 2004 completed a M.S. in Public Policy and Economic Development from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

From 1983-1991, Representative Forster was a Supervisor in the U.S. Navy Nuclear Submarine Force. He is now a consultant. Currently, Representative Forster’s legislative committees include service on the following: member of Appropriations (Economic Development Subcommittee); member of Insurance Committee; Secretary for the Public Utilities &Telecommunications Committee; and Chairman of the Interstate Cooperation Committee.

In addition to his legislative commitments, Chairman Forster is also a dedicated member of the Brainerd Hills Baptist Church, where he teaches Sunday School, the Kiwanis Club, and the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). In 2004, he was named the ALEC Legislator of the Year, one of only three nationwide.

He and his wife Yvette are the proud parents of two children, Roxanne, 16, and Ryan, 12. Representative Forster enjoys weight lifting, jogging and basketball. In 2004 he won the legislative fitness challenge! He also works as a substitute teacher when possible and has coached basketball, soccer and baseball for his area youth recreation.
