HD 75 ( I-Lake City) First elected to the Georgia State Legislature in 1998, Representative Ron Dodson has held other public offices as well. The Lake City Legislator served two terms on his local City Council and also served as a County Commissioner for Clayton County. He is a Deacon at his church in Forest Park, First Baptist Church and on the Board of Trustees for both the Southern Regional Medical Center and the Georgia Hospital Association. In 1999, he was named Legislator of the Year by Georgia Association of Home and Services for Children. A few years later, in 2001, the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Georgia honored him with the Legislator Leadership Award. From 1999-2000 and 2001-2002, he was presented with the Legislative Leadership Award from the Georgia Hospital Association. Representative Dodson was recently appointed to the Special Committee on Civil Justice Reform by House Speaker Glenn Richardson. The Representative served on a similar committee for Former Speaker Coleman in the past legislative session. He presently holds membership in the following legislative committees: Health and Human Resources, Insurance and Public Utilities and Telecommunications. Representative Dodson is currently the only member of the Georgia General Assembly who is a member of the Independent Party. Prior to serving as a Georgia State Legislator, Dodson served in the U.S. Army and later worked as a General Contractor. He and his wife Katherine, have two sons, Brent and Blake. They also have been blessed with two grandchildren, Landon and Madelyn. During his spare time, Representative Dobson enjoys playing golf, reading and going fishing. |
