HD 65 (D- Fairburn) Representative Sharon Beasley-Teague is a Democrat representing House District 65. She was first elected as a member of the General Assembly in 1992 and continues to serve today. Presently, she serves on the Games, Fish & Parks, Reapportionment and Ways & Means Committees. She has proven to her constituents and the general public alike that she is a committed and able legislator. Her 30 years of political involvement has been and continues to be focused toward improving the standard of living for the working poor, thus helping to enhance the quality of life for those unable to speak up for themselves. Representative Beasley-Teague has participated with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the National Jewish Fund, Operation Bread Basket, Head Start, Inc., United Youth Adult Conference. The legislator is also the founder and president of the Richard James Teague Memorial Foundation, Inc., which helps provide funds for various programs at the Pediatric Sickle Cell Clinic at Grady Memorial Hospital. She creatively explores and solicits funding resources to provide college scholarships for high school seniors. Representative Beasley-Teague graduated from Indiana College of Business Technology and attended Georgia State University. She is employed by Lockheed Martin Aeronautic Systems Company as a Machinist, and is a member of the International Association of Machinists Local 709, Marietta, Georgia. She was recently married to Farajo (James) Elnamala and has one daughter, Mrs. Ivy Green Djrogbo. She is a member of the Christian Fellowship Community Church, and has completed her third year of training as an Evangelist. In 1999, she offered a $3,000 scholarship to a first year college student. She has been the recipient of numerous awards for civic and community work. |
