Currently serving his fourth term as a member of the Georgia State House of Representatives, Mike Barnes is a member of the Banks & Banking, Human Relations & Aging and State Planning & Community Affairs Committees. Barnes is the legislator serving as the voice for the constituents of House District 78, Henry County.
The native Georgian was born in Atlanta in 1952 and graduated from Sylvan High School. He later attended Atlanta University and earned a degree in Electrical Construction and is now a business owner. He and his wife Debra have 3 children: Staci, Julie and Justin. The family attends the New Hope Methodist Church.
Prior to his legislative services under the Gold Dome, Representative Barnes served on the Clayton County Board of Education. In his spare time, Barnes enjoys going fishing and camping and has a very big interest in street rods.
