This presentation will provide an overview of the popular new telephone technology called Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP).
State Chief Information Officer Tom Wade and Chief Technology Officer Steve Nichols of the Georgia Technology Authority will present an analysis of how VoIP works, how it can potentially save the state money, and what considerations need to be made in deploying the technology. Mr. Wade and Mr. Nichols will give an update on state VoIP pilot projects already underway and will also discuss the plan for wider deployment of VoIP in state government.
