RESOLUTION
Mourning
the passing of Frank Eldridge, Jr., and honoring his life and memory; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
on February 4, 2006, the State of Georgia lost one of her most eminent public
servants and this body lost its beloved Secretary of the Senate, Frank Eldridge,
Jr.; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Eldridge was a native son and lifelong resident of Waycross, Georgia, who
graduated from Gordon Military College in 1950 and became a highly respected
businessman and civic leader in his home town; and
WHEREAS,
he enjoyed a long and distinguished career in service to the state as a member
of this body from 1965 to 1982; as executive director of the Georgia Public
Service Commission from 1988 to 1992; and as Secretary of the Senate for this
body beginning in 1993; and
WHEREAS,
the members of this body knew Mr. Eldridge as a colleague and a friend; as a man
deeply devoted to the best interests of the State of Georgia; and as a tireless
worker for the betterment of the Georgia Senate; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Eldridge is survived by his wife, Leland Eldridge; his son, Pete Eldridge;
his daughter, Zeda Matich; his sister, Margaret Denton; five grandchildren; and
three great-grandchildren.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that each and every member of this body
joins in mourning the loss of our beloved Secretary of the Senate, Frank
Eldridge, Jr.; in extending to Mr. Eldridge's family our condolences; and in
honoring and paying tribute to a lifetime of service by this great
Georgian.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the office of the Secretary of the Senate is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr.
Eldridge's family.
