RESOLUTION
Commending
the Peachtree City Police Department; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the brave men and women of the Peachtree City Police Department valiantly strive
to protect each and every one of the city's citizens, and no group's safety is
more important to them than that of the youth of their community and their
state; and
WHEREAS,
on January 19, 2006, Peachtree City police made their 14th arrest arising out of
their ongoing undercover operation to crack down on online predators;
and
WHEREAS,
by posing as minors online, Peachtree City police are able to catch pedophiles
using the Internet as a means of luring vulnerable children; and
WHEREAS,
under the able direction of Police Chief James Murray, Peachtree City police are
leading the way in putting a stop to such heinous crimes by more swiftly
tracking down suspects and educating parents of the importance of being aware of
their children's Internet activity; and
WHEREAS,
through this operation and through all the many other heroic actions its brave
officers take every day, the Peachtree City Police Department is making the city
and state more secure for everyone.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
commending the Peachtree City Police Department for its brave and vigilant
service to the community and thank the members for all their invaluable work to
protect Georgia's children.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Police Chief James Murray
and the members of the Peachtree City Police Department.
