RESOLUTION
Congratulating
Ms. Ruth Hazel Mann on the occasion of her 100th birthday; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Ms. Ruth Hazel Mann was born on January 21, 1906; and
WHEREAS,
this accomplished lady graduated from Brewton-Parker College, attended Georgia
State Women's College in Valdosta and graduated from the Valdosta Conservatory
of Music; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Mann enjoyed a wonderful and loving marriage to the late Mr. James Bugg
Partin, who was Superintendent of Schools for Toombs County for 20 years and the
Tax Collector for the county for 12 years; and
WHEREAS,
during her husband's tenure as Superintendent of Schools, Ms. Mann served as an
Assistant Superintendent, and upon his death in 1956, she succeeded him as
Superintendent of Schools, serving for four years; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Mann has been blessed with a large and loving family, including her two
daughters, Sue Corbett and Peggy Partin; her two grandchildren, James Thomas
Corbett and Kathy Corbett Fowler; and her three great-grandchildren, Corbett
Fowler, Kendall Ruth Fowler, and Catherine Fowler; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Mann is a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Lyons, Georgia, where
she enthusiastically participated in every aspect of church work throughout her
career; and
WHEREAS,
a kind, talented, and highly respected lady, Ms. Mann has juggled the roles of
career woman and homemaker while tirelessly serving her community well;
and
WHEREAS,
by the example she has made of her life, Ms. Mann makes this world a better
place to live, and it is only fitting and proper that she be appropriately
recognized during this very special and memorable time of her life.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body express
their congratulations and best wishes to Ms. Ruth Hazel Mann on the happy
occasion of her 100th birthday and thank her for all her many contributions to
Georgia.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Ruth Hazel Mann.
