RESOLUTION
Commending
Elisabeth Williams-Omilami and Afemo Omilami, codirectors of Hosea Feed the
Hungry and Homeless; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Elisabeth Williams-Omilami is the daughter of renowned civil rights activists
Hosea and Juanita Williams, who founded Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless in
1971; and
WHEREAS,
following the deaths of Hosea and Juanita Williams in 2000, Elisabeth and Afemo
became the codirectors of Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless, ensuring that the
organization's important philanthropic work continued; and
WHEREAS,
while Elisabeth and Afemo have engaged in successful careers in film,
television, and theater for the last 22 years, they have put their acting
careers second to their service to thousands through Hosea Feed the Hungry and
Homeless; and
WHEREAS,
the achievements of Elisabeth and Afemo have left a lasting impression on the
people of the State of Georgia and will continue to benefit generations of
Georgians.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of Elisabeth Williams-Omilami and
Afemo Omilami, commending their valuable contributions to feeding the hungry and
homeless, and extending their sincerest best wishes in their future
endeavors.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Elisabeth Williams-Omilami
and Afemo Omilami.
