RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Herb Jones for his many years of outstanding public service; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Herb Jones, a United States Navy veteran and retired banker, currently
serves as Executive Director of the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce and
Industrial Development Authority and, in this post, has used his expertise to
successfully recruit a number of new industries to Effingham County;
and
WHEREAS,
serving in a number of leadership positions within Effingham County, Chatham
County, and Savannah and for a number of years as a state legislator, Mr. Jones
has consistently exhibited his commitment to the betterment of his community and
the State of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
in each of these posts, Mr. Jones has used his business expertise and his talent
for diplomacy to excellent effect and has merited the highest respect of his
colleagues and the community he represents; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Herb Jones has always adhered to the highest standards of conduct and has
displayed great energy, intelligence, and ability, and he is one of Georgia's
most distinguished citizens and public servants.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
recognizing and commending Mr. Herb Jones for his many years of esteemed service
to the coastal community and the State of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Herb Jones.
