A RESOLUTION

Commending the class of Leadership Cook 2005; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Leadership Cook, a program of the Adel-Cook County Chamber of Commerce,
provides an invaluable learning experience for the existing and emerging leaders of Cook County; and

WHEREAS, this laudable program began in 1997 as a way to cultivate the talents and knowledge of civic-minded individuals who aspire to participate in shaping the future of their community; and

WHEREAS, participants include a cross section of persons working or residing in Cook County who have exhibited a promising degree of community involvement, leadership potential, and professional achievement; and

WHEREAS, those selected for Leadership Cook are given an opportunity to gain a greater understanding of how their county operates through a curriculum developed by the University of Georgiás Fanning Leadership Center and through a range of field activities highlighting a variety of components of county government and institutions; and

WHEREAS, the futures of all the communities of Georgia depend on individuals such as the Leadership Cook participants, who are willing to dedicate their time and talent to civic affairs.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in commending the class of Leadership Cook 2005 for their commitment to the future of their community and congratulate them for being selected for this inestimable program.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Rhonda G. Geiger, Leadership Cook Coordinator.
