Senate Resolution 662

A RESOLUTION

Commending Police Chief C. Frank Simons; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Police Chief C. Frank Simons has served with honor and distinction as police chief for the City of Perry from 1987 to 1995 and as the police chief for the City of Valdosta since 1995; and

WHEREAS, he is an honest and dedicated public servant who strives for excellence in all his endeavors and whose primary concern is the welfare and safety of the citizens of the City of Perry and the City of Valdosta; and

WHEREAS, he is highly regarded by the citizens of the communities he serves and by state and local government officials as a man of unquestioned integrity and dedication to the administration of justice and sound principles of law enforcement; and

WHEREAS, this spirited law enforcement professional has exhibited extraordinary devotion to duty, outstanding loyalty, fine leadership, and meticulous attention to detail in all his duties, and his efficient and effective commitment to excellence has been recognized by his peers through the many decorations and awards he has received including his being named 2005 Outstanding Chief of the Year by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the members of this body show their gratitude for the unique and often unheralded contributions of local law enforcement officers on behalf of the citizens of this state.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend the care, courage, sympathy, and selfless dedication exhibited by Police Chief C. Frank Simons in carrying out the difficult duties of his vocation for the past 34 years and extend to him their utmost appreciation for having so purely and truly defined for others the meaning of public servant.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Police Chief C. Frank Simons of Valdosta, Georgia.
