ADOPTED

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing January 24, 2006, as "LaGrange College Day" in the State of Georgia and celebrating the 175th anniversary of LaGrange College; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, since 1831, LaGrange College has been challenging studentś minds, inspiring their souls, and shaping their lives; and

WHEREAS, LaGrange College is a four-year liberal arts and sciences institution offering 50 academic and preprofessional programs and graduate degrees in education and business; and

WHEREAS, LaGrange College is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and is ranked by U.S. News and World Report among the South́s top comprehensive colleges and in that categorýs top ten best values; and

WHEREAS, over 1,000 students, representing 20 states and 12 countries, attend LaGrange College; and

WHEREAS, LaGrange College is committed to the free, uninhibited pursuit of truth, and academic freedom and free expression by faculty and students are integral to the LaGrange College ethos; and

WHEREAS, LaGrange College strives to be a caring and ethical community and the hallmark of the community is the quest for civility, diversity, service, and excellence.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that this body does hereby declare January 24, 2006, to be "LaGrange College Day" in the State of Georgia and all the citizens of Georgia are urged to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in the observance of its 175th anniversary.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the President of LaGrange College.
