Senate Resolution 616

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing the Brand Banking Company during its centennial celebration; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, on April 29, 1905, the Brand Banking Company was organized in Lawrenceville, Georgia, by E. M. Brand, L. M. Brand, C. H. Brand, T. R. Powell, and A. M. Winn; and

WHEREAS, the Brand Banking Company began conducting business at the building located on the courthouse square, the same building where the main office is located today; and

WHEREAS, the Brand Banking Company has continued to expand to keep pace with the phenomenal growth in Gwinnett from its original location on the courthouse square to its six banking locations in Gwinnett and Hall counties while maintaining its old-fashioned personal service yet adding modern technological conveniences; and

WHEREAS, the Brand Banking Company began operating in 1905 with three employees and today it employs more than 200 persons who are encouraged to be a part of the community and be involved in community service and activities; and

WHEREAS, the Brand Banking Company was begun by and managed by the Brand Family and continues to be owned and managed by the Morgan-Brand Family and the present Chief Executive Officer, Barton Morgan III, is the great-great-grandson of the founder, E. M. Brand; and

WHEREAS, Barton Morgan III continues to demonstrate unparalleled organizational and leadership talents, remarkable patience and diplomacy, a keen sense of vision, and acute sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of his community and state that have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, in light of the outstanding service that Brand Banking Company has provided to its community, state, and nation for 100 years, it is fitting and proper that the accomplishments of this fine institution be recognized by this body.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize the Brand Banking Company during its centennial celebration and express their appreciation for its 100 years of service in the State of Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Brand Banking Company.
