RESOLUTION
Commending
Commissioner Bebe Heiskell and Walker County for their efforts to promote
tourism in Georgia; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
tourism is Georgia's second largest industry and supports 209,500 jobs while
contributing $1.14 billion in state and local tax revenue each year for a
savings of over $380.00 in state and local taxes to each Georgia household;
and
WHEREAS,
from the majestic views of Rock City Gardens to the grand columns of the Gordon
Lee Mansion, Walker County hosts a wide variety of tourist destinations many of
which feature the community's deep ties to Cherokee heritage and the county's
historic role in the War between the States; and
WHEREAS,
Walker County takes great pride and care in these treasured sites and, with the
excellent guidance and conscientious leadership of Commissioner Bebe Heiskell,
has generously invested its resources to promote tourism in Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
Walker County is a shining example of the important impact that each community
can have on the vitality of our state's tourism industry.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
commending Commissioner Bebe Heiskell and Walker County, home of some of the
state's most interesting, historic, and picturesque sites, for many outstanding
contributions to tourism in Georgia.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Walker County Commissioner
Bebe Heiskell.
