A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Ware County Magnet School on its designation as a 2005 Georgia School of Excellence in Student Achievement; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Ware County Magnet School has been selected as a 2005 Georgia School of Excellence in Student Achievement by the Department of Education; and

WHEREAS, Ware County Magnet School stands as one of only 20 schools in the state to receive this prestigious honor and is among the ten schools in the top ten percent in student achievement in reading/language arts and math; and

WHEREAS, selections were based on each school´s organization and culture; challenging standards and curriculum; active teaching and learning; professional community; student focus and support; leadership and educational vitality; and school, family, and community partnerships; and

WHEREAS, this superlative school has maintained a proud tradition of excellence in education through the outstanding efforts of the dedicated and hard working administration, faculty, and staff, and the bright, focused, and determined students; and

WHEREAS, by its example, Ware County Magnet School has set a standard of achievement and a model of excellence and success for other schools to emulate.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize Ware County Magnet School on its selection as a 2005 Georgia School of Excellence in Student Achievement and commend its outstanding dedication and commitment to excellence in education.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ware County Magnet School and its principal, Dr. Darlene Tanner.
